Red Light Fever Release Day!

09 Feb 2009 |
Twas a big night of tunes, magic, poetry, art, cock rock and true Green Thing inspiration.
We did it, we organised a piss up in a brewery and it was an inspiring thing. Last Tuesday, a throng of friends and supporters and collaborators came together to enjoy an end of year Green Thing party in East London's Truman Brewery. [...]
First on stage was Musa and Stewart from Benin City - spontaneously accompanied by Surin on beatbox - performed their All-Consuming track Penny Drops. Awesome. Then artists Ackroyd and Harvey took the stage and briliantly satirised the way that humanity was wrecking its home and called on everyone to wake up. Then the fabulous Tom Williams and Guy and Ant from The Boat strapped on guitars and walked into the audience and played their Short Sharp Shower song. Then James did his Bob Geldof "give us your f***ing money" impression.
The finally the magnificent Justin Hawkins and Hot Leg and did their two outstanding Green Thing songs - Heroes and Do It In The Dark.

The Independent On Sunday
Anyone expecting the post-rehab Justin Hawkins to be apologetic, acoustic, introspective and toned down is in for a shock.
Hot Leg, Hawkins' new "Man Rock" quartet, are the Darkness-plus. From the hocus-pocus shrieking of opener "Chickens" to grandiose Steinman-esque closer "Kissing in the Wind", 'Red Light Fever' is all about jubilant falsettos, crashing crescendos, and ludicrously layered arrangements. If something's worth doing - as Hawkins knows better than anyone - it's worth overdoing.
Pick of the album: Coming out of the closet: 'Gay in the 80s'
