The Darkness, however, has a knack for finishing forcefully, and as is the outfit’s tradition on tour, Justin had the whole house raving as he rode through the audience on the shoulders of a security guard, nailing flurry after metalized flurry on the solo-extravaganza "Love on the Rocks with No Ice."

By the end of that tune, he had nearly everyone attempting to match his high-pitched wails in a singalong that underscored what these guys do best: jokingly or not, they deliver some of the most fun you’ll ever have at a rock concert.

It's hard to forget that glorious ring of frontman Justin Hawkins signature falsetto, and great news - it’s alive and well. The band has called the reunion one about “getting back to what made the band work in the first place.” And if you’re wondering what that may be, well, according to Hawkins, “The main thing for us is to make sure that musically we turn the experience into something positive again.” Judging by the sold out crowds at the sweaty intimate gigs, mission accomplished.

The new album is due out later this year and the band recently debuted a new video for their first single ‘Nothin’s Gonna Stop Us’...

The Darkness to play Sonisphere UK Festival

As the announcement for this year's UK Sonisphere Festival is made, it is revealed that The Darkness are to appear at the festival on Saturday 7th July 2012.

KISS, Queen with Adam Lambert and Faith No More have been announced as the headliners for the festival held in Knebworth, from 6th - 8th July 2012.

Fans were eager to sing along, particularly to the Permission to Land songs and even most of the One Way Ticket to Hell...and Back jams. "Friday Night" was a crowd favorite, with fans immediately singing along once the song was recognized.
Things got intimate during a solo acoustic version of "Holding My Own," a standout song of the evening.

For the most part, it didn't seem like the crowd was just patiently waiting for "I Believe in a Thing Called Love." The band played the entirety of its debut album, Permission to Land as well as some b-sides, tracks from One Way Ticket to Hell...and Back and some tunes from the band's upcoming album. Fans embraced the new songs by singing, clapping, and giving the thumbs up with as much enthusiasm as their response to old favorites.

But if his aesthetic presented a united -- and batshit -- front, his audience only matched in its levels of enthusiasm. Through first album highlights ("Love Is Only a Feeling," "Get Your Hands Off Of My Woman") to the band's new material, the Summit's sold-out crowd sang along to even the more obscure material, taking care to freak out sufficiently for the Darkness' eerie and ear-catching cover of Radiohead's "Street Spirit" and enthusiastically obeying Hawkins' request to "show us your fucking thumbs."

The Darkness have clearly returned to peak performance shape, and the band played almost all of its material...
